Fulfilment Quote Comparison Checklist

Two fulfilment quotes are only comparable when they describe the same operation. A low headline handling rate can hide a different included-item allowance, storage basis or packing brief. Use this checklist to give each provider the same inputs and compare the work included in the price.

Send the same order profile to every provider

State monthly orders, typical items per order, SKU count, storage needs and delivery destinations. Add representative single-item, mixed and kit orders. Describe seasonal peaks and any first-order gifts or branded packing. Ask each provider to price that profile rather than using a generic example that may not resemble your business.

Compare definitions as well as numbers

Check what the base order fee includes, when additional-item charges start and whether a finished kit is treated differently from kit assembly. Confirm how receiving, storage, packaging, returns and extra work are charged. Ask about minimums, subscription or account fees and the treatment of changes. A blank line is not necessarily a confirmed zero charge.

Model a realistic month

Apply each quote to the same order mix and stock profile. Keep handling, packaging, carriage and extras visible before comparing the overall total. Record assumptions so another person can reproduce the result. Also assess reporting, communication, onboarding and exception handling: those affect how usable the service will be even when they are not separate rate-card lines.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Make the brief practical

Example comparison: one quote includes the first item and charges for the next two; another includes two items and charges for the third. A basket with three products needs a worked calculation before the two headline pick fees can be judged.

What to prepare

  • Identical order and stock inputs
  • Included-item and kit definitions
  • All recurring and extra-work charges
  • Worked monthly total with written assumptions

Questions to settle before go-live

Should I choose the lowest pick-and-pack fee?

Compare the complete monthly operation first. Different allowances, packaging, storage and service requirements can reverse the apparent saving shown by a single fee.

What should I send 3PLWOW for a quote?

Provide the product catalogue, volumes, order examples, storage estimate, destinations and special packing or returns needs. Use the quote form to start a discussion around that profile.
