Sample and Trial Kit Fulfilment

Samples and trial kits help customers explore a range, but the warehouse still needs clear instructions for every item. 3PLWOW can scope sample fulfilment around standalone trial orders, inserts in ordinary parcels and assembled discovery kits.

Built around your operation

Small introductions deserve the same care as a full-size order.

Practical details, clear instructions and a fulfilment process shaped around your products.

01

Give samples their own stock identity

A miniature bottle or sachet should be distinguishable from its full-size equivalent. Use a separate SKU for every variant and size, with clear incoming carton labels. Tell us which items are saleable, free promotional stock or components reserved for a specific campaign.

02

Choose how the sample reaches the order

A sample can be bought separately, included in a kit or added under an offer. Agree whether the store sends a sample line or another clear instruction. The warehouse should not have to infer marketing eligibility from customer details or guess whether a previous order received a gift.

03

Define discovery kits component by component

List every product, quantity, leaflet and packaging item. Decide whether kits are assembled in advance or made when an order arrives. Pre-assembly can change stock availability and storage needs, while order-time assembly creates a different handling task. Both options need a documented shortage and substitution process.

04

Protect labels and product information

Small packs can still leak, crease or become difficult to identify. Keep the required product information with the correct item and provide any handling or date instructions. Product compliance remains the brand’s responsibility; a trial size should not be assumed to remove its requirements.

05

Plan campaign stock and the end date

Set aside the intended sample quantity and decide what happens when it runs out. Clarify whether ordinary orders continue without the sample or should be held. At campaign end, confirm how unused stock, discontinued inserts and pre-built kits are handled so old promotions do not appear in later parcels.

06

Assess suitable packaging and costs

A light trial kit is not automatically eligible for a particular postal format. Measure and weigh the finished pack and check the chosen service. For a quote, share components, expected volumes, assembly steps, materials, destinations and any recurring campaign changes.

Straight answers

Your questions, answered.

Can you add a free sample to selected orders?

Yes, this can be discussed where the order data and agreed rules clearly identify which sample should be included.

Can kits change each month?

Recurring changes can be planned, with an approved component list, stock and packing instructions supplied before each cycle.

Are samples counted as physical picks?

The quote should state how each physical component, insert and assembly task is charged. Do not assume free-to-the-customer means free warehouse handling.
