PACKING WORKFLOWS · 3PLWOW
Limited-Edition Product Drop Fulfilment UK
A limited-edition drop concentrates demand around a small window. The work starts before the launch: inventory, product data, packing instructions and an exception plan need to be ready. 3PLWOW can discuss fulfilment planning around a forecasted product release, subject to the agreed capacity and service requirements.

Share a launch profile rather than one volume
Give the expected order range, likely peak day, items per order and destination mix. Include stock arrival dates and any embargo. A forecast is more useful when it explains uncertainty as well as the headline number. Confirm the dispatch plan with the warehouse before promising a customer-facing shipping window.
Approve a complete launch pack
Send the final product data, packaging, inserts and kit recipes early enough to test a representative order. If products are numbered or editions have specific allocation rules, document those requirements. Agree who signs off the reference pack and how late artwork or component changes are handled. A last-minute insert swap can affect more than the printed message.
Plan for exceptions and remaining stock
Define the response to shortages, oversold products, damaged stock and customer changes. Decide how orders requiring a decision are separated from those ready to dispatch. After the launch, reconcile remaining inventory and review the order profiles actually received. That gives the next release a more reliable planning baseline than a forecast alone.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
Make the brief practical
Example brief: a drop has a standard version and a signed insert version. Separate identifiers and a stock allocation rule are agreed before orders open, so the warehouse does not have to decide who receives the limited insert.
What to prepare
- Expected volume range and release timing
- Stock arrival and embargo instructions
- Approved sample pack
- Shortage contact and dispatch communication plan
Questions to settle before go-live
Can I promise next-day dispatch for every launch order?
Agree the actual capacity, stock readiness, cut-off and carrier arrangements first. A product launch forecast does not itself establish a dispatch guarantee.
Can stock be held until launch day?
An agreed stock-hold or release process can be discussed. Provide the exact date, time, affected SKUs and person authorised to change the instruction.
